Modern Day POP Songs Depressing?

Lately i've seen a growing amount of POP songs being made about losing someone you love. Most songs in this genre just show complete depression.
This one song i can't remember the name. I think it's m&m and someone else. The lyrics go as followed.
"GIRL SINGING"
Are you just gonna stand there and watch me burn, it's alright because i like the way you "something" just the way you "something"
Then m&m does a bit of rapping
then it goes to the girl singing again.

Im not sure if anyone has heard the term "emo" it means your a person who's depressed and likes cutting themselves. Besides the cutting themselves part some songs are just really really depressing.
